Day 127

This island looks nothing like a coffin. For some reason I feel let down. Anyway it was a beautiful island. There are security guys there trying to protect the wildlife. They follow you around and make sure you down hurt a jelly fish or something. Which is great and all but one of them was fishing off the dock, he did catch a huge barracuda. I am so tired that I gave up the super hammock. I think I need a real bed tonight. Church tomorrow; I love Sundays. I actually got sunburned today. I thought I was immune to the sun. I guess not.

Day 126

I slept all night last night in a hammock. I was actually cold. I went out there after I finished my post for the day. I had a big blanket, a can of OFF bug spray and two pillows. I think it was actually really comfortable, I just woke up a few time because of the cold which I enjoyed. I am rarely cold here. So today we went to an event for personas con impedimentos as they said it. It was actually kind of cool but it was so long. I was expecting maybe three hours. We left the 7:45am, it didn't take very long for us to get there and we didn't leave the event until probably 1:30pm. There were all sorts of well known people there. The most recent winner of Puerto Rican Idol sang for us. There was also a comedian at the end who was pretty funny. At least as much as I understood. Tomorrow we are going to an island called caja de muertos. As the name would imply it is shaped like a coffin.

Day 125

I tied a rope from one building to another at the school. There is about a forty foot gap. So the only logical next step was to tie a hammock in the middle. So I did. I also plan to sleep in it tonight. I'm pretty sure this will not go well. I am however illogically optimistic. The right pillow and a good blanket this should be great. Tomorrow morning the school is going on some sort of field trip for people with disabilities. Should be a blast. Interpreters provided, that's pretty cool. Not that I would be the one interpreting but still. Very good. Ok, I'm off to my ridiculously over sized hammock. Its so high in the air that I have to jump for it then climb up into it but it sags down to like four feet off the ground. I just hope I don't wake up with a ton of bug bites.

Day 124

Judy More is not well today. Betsy decided it would be better if she took the day of and had some rest. So Betsy stepped in as her substitute and I filled in for Betsy. That meant Saul and I all day! I was actually kind of worried. He has behavioral issues on occasion, but he was great all day. So my day was pretty easy. Then tonight for church we had Thanksgiving! I know a little late right, our pastor was in Mexico with his family so the congregation decided to wait for his return. Anyway we went around the room and everyone had to say one thing that they are thankful for. So I had Elizabeth help me write out mine so I could read it. Spanish is hard...

Day 123

Chemistry day, really cool. We drove out to the University of Puerto Rico to visit a friend of Betsy's who is a chemistry teacher. He did all sorts of cool stuff. We burned ethanol gas, played with dry ice, and he poured a tank of liquid nitrogen into a bucket of hot water. A few of the kids laid down on the ground and you could hardly see them through the through the cloud. Saúl, Gaby, and Kioney came to school today even though they were sick. Which is good because it would have been really sad if they missed chem day.

Day 122

Today I washed two fifteen passenger vans. I put the seats back into one of them by myself. They had gotten out of order too so I had to move them around a lot, and they're heavy. Leo and I pulled one of the vans out of the mud. I put roof sealer on Betsy's roof. I caught a lizard to feed the snake. I had devotions with Mizael. I removed some bolts that were left in one of the vans for the extra seat. I reassembled an air hockey table and fixed a flag pole. Then, after lunch, I power washed the front gate. I macheted the vines off of a section of fence. I discovered a bee hive next to the fence. I stopped macheteing. After that I climbed on the roof and hung Christmas lights. I also set up a nativity scene... in a planter. I had to pack all of our effigies into about a two foot by two foot clearing between plants. Anyway I finished all this in time to go to the beach before diner. The ocean is a mess, I love it. P.S. Saul and siblings are sick. This makes me sad.

Day 121

Splat!
I found these pictures of me on a rope swing at Charco Frio. The first three are a frame by frame of me slamming into a rock, the last is the result of that. There were all these people watching too, how embarrassing. Anyway it was still really fun. Tomorrow is Monday! I finally get to hang out with the kids again after a a whole week away. I can't wait. Church was really good today but the pastor was really loud. Hector preached the night service, it was really good. I enjoy his sermons. The school has an exciting week planed. Tuesday we are going to chemistry day at the University of Puerto Rico. Then on Friday we are going to some disability day thing. I have so little time left with these kids. I'm not excited to leave them.
