Day 92

This morning Jamie, my parents and myself went to a bakery down the street. I love that bakery because the lady there calls me caballero. We had sandwiches and all sorts of good bakery food. We visited the beach for the last time of they're trip, just stopped to look then left. Then we drove to the airport so they could go back to California. We were all sad. I will be back before they know it. After the airport Betsy and I went to lunch. Then, when we got back to the school Elizabeth, Jen, Betsy and I went to the biobay again since we still had the kayaks. It was very fun.

Day 91

Saul has behaving himself the past few weeks so as a reword we took him to the pool today. It was so fun! He can't really swim so he had me catch him after he would jump in. He loved it so much. He was doing tricks and having a good time. After school my dad and I removed the seats from one of the huge white vans and went and got the kayaks from a friend of the school. Then we all went to an early dinner and headed for the bioluminescent bay. We got there with enough time to kayak up the river before it even got dark, so we were the first ones to the bay for the night. I think everyone had a good time, it was really cool seeing it all again. We saw tons of fish jumping around and making the water glow. I'm glad I had the chance to show them that. Well we only have half of a day together before they fly back to California.

Day 90

My Dad and I built a lid for the terrarium that the snakes are in today. Saúl helped, kind of. After school we went up to El Yunque for the rest of the day. We had a good time. We hiked the river and saw the waterfall at the bottom. It really is a beautiful place. After we saw all there was to see Jamie and I went to dinner. We went to kiosk number 36. After dinner we got ice cream and rented a movie. Elizabeth let us watch it in her class with her projector. It was really cool. Tomorrow I am taking them to the bio luminescent bay then they leave on Saturday. This week has gone by so fast.

Day 89

Saul was sick today, which caused Betsy to be free, which led to us changing our plans today (that made sense to me). Instead of going to the rain forest we went snorkeling on Icacos, a really small island off the cost. It was so cool! The water was crystal clear, and full of fish. When we got back I learned that Jen caught a snake! And its bigger than mine! Its such a cool snake. So now we need to work on the living situation for our snakes. Things got crazy tonight! Warning: The remainder of this entry contains graphic violence towards small animals. Only proceed if you feel you can handle this type of material. You're reading on, good choice. I walked into my room tonight at like 9pm and I saw a rat run under my bed. So I closed the door behind me. The fight began there. I dropped to the floor to look under my bed and I saw the huge rat hiding in the corner. My suitcase was also under the bed and I thought it might fit in the corner pretty well so I kicked it at the rat attempting to jam him in between the wall and the suitcase but he ran out of the way just in time. He ran against the wall and passed behind a flexible laundry bag/basket that I keep plastic bags in. So I shoved it against the wall pinning the rat! All I could see was the rat's tail sticking out from behind the bag/basket, flopping in distress, so punched the bag/basket where the rat was again and again. When I was pretty sure all the damage I could do had been done I let the bag/basket off of the wall. The rat just darted away to the next corner of the room like nothing had happened to it. I guess the bag/basket provided enough cushion from the punching to keep it from being killed. To the best of my knowledge the rat was hiding behind the armoire the next corner over. So I put my head against the wall on the side he ran in, nothing. Then I checked the other side, nothing. The next thing he could hide behind was the couch so I slowly pulled one end of the couch away from the wall and peered in behind it. The rat was there, hiding at the other end of the couch, trapped. I slowly walked to the other side of the couch with I small grin on my face. I turned away from the couch and rested my foot on the end of the first cushion behind me. With one strong kick backwards the couch slid against the wall crushing the giant rat before he even had a chance to squeak his last squeak. Finished. Day 88

Another good day with my family. We got a lot done at school. We left for Old San Juan at 1:30. We saw both forts, visited all the good shops. We ate at a really good pizza place. We also saw a dance performance in one of the forts. It was fun. Tomorrow we are going to the rain forest. I know everyone will love that. Its a pretty cool place to be. Then tomorrow night I'm taking Jamie to church in Spanish. That should be fun; its a great way to jump into the culture. I am so tired. Who knew having visitors would wear you out so much. They are used to a different time zone too. It's like they don't get tired at night, crazy. It's really cool getting to show this island to people. It's a cool place.

Day 87

My dad works so fast. We built an entire pergola today. Well not the posts in the ground but the rest of it. Then we went to the beach. We started the day with a trip to home depot though. We got to bring Saul! It was really fun. He is very well behaved in public. We had him measuring things and writing down the measurements. It was good practice for him. The waves at the beach were great. Jamie got a little overwhelmed by them a few times. I wasn't helping. She asked me to teach her how to body board, that was her first mistake. I chose the mother bird technique. I waited for a big wave and I pushed her into it like a mommy bird nudges her young from the nest. It didn't work so well for me. On a completely different note I am really getting into Oswald Chambers' daily devotions.

Day 86

I brought hearing people to a deaf church, sweet. Everyone should do it once. It went pretty well. We had Mexican food for lunch and pizza hut for dinner. I'm easing them into it. We tried to go to home depot to get some supplies for tomorrow but it was already closed. So we went to Baskin Robbins, there gunna spoil me. We got a chance to go snorkeling after church too. We had a little bit of a rough start but we were a well oiled snorkeling machine by the end of it. I dove to the bottom after we past the reef. It was the deepest I think I have ever gone. I just remember looking up from the bottom wondering how the surface got so far away. It was dark down there, I could barley see the ground. I wish I had had gotten a better breath before I went down, I would have liked to have looked around a little. It was a really cool feeling. My dad wasn't so excited about watching my feet disappear into the dark of the ocean. For some reason people don't like seeing that, weird. I'm so excited for school tomorrow, I miss the kids and I can't wait for my parents and Jamie to meet all of them. Long quote but its good. I have a new favorite author. "How are we going to get the life that has no lust, no self-interest, no sensitiveness to pokes, the love that is not provoked, that thinketh no evil, that is always kind? The only way is by allowing not a bit of the old life to be left; but only simple perfect trust in God..." -Oswald Chambers
